II line in numbers

Central section of the second underground line:

  • The largest municipal investment in Poland to be carried out by 2013
  • The length  of the central section of the second underground line  -  6.1 km
  • Seven stations (working names) - Rondo Daszyńskiego, Rondo ONZ, Świętokrzyska (a through station between the underground lines), Nowy Świat (the deepest underground station located 6 storeys underground), Powiśle, Stadion and Dworzec Wileński
  • Six double tunnels connecting the stations; a 0.5 km long junction tunnel connecting the two underground lines; a tunnel running about 8 metres under the bottom of the Vistula
  • Approximate total cost of the project4.76 billion PLN. Estimated UE subsidy amount – PLN 2.95 billion. Cost of the investment – PLN 4.1 billion
  • Investor – The capital city of Warsaw represented by the Public Transport Authority; substitute investor -  Metro Warszawskie  Sp. z o.o.
  • Contractor – Italian-Turkish-Polish consortium: ASTALDI S.p. A , GÜLERMAK Ağır Sanayi İnşaat ve Taahhüt A.Ş. and Przedsiębiorstwo Budowy Dróg i Mostów Sp. z o.o. from Mińsk Mazowiecki
