II line Construction

Construction

The decision about the location of stations and construction of the central section of the second underground line was made in 2006. According to the previous projects, the second line was to run under Wolska and Człuchowska Streets in Wola and Bemowo, while the line in Praga was planned to be divided into the northern part, running to Targówek (second line) and the southern one running to Gocław (third line). Eventually, the second and third lines were combined into one line by moving the underground section located in Wola as far as Górczewska Street. The central section from Daszyński Roundabout to Wileński Railway Station remained unchanged.

On  April 27, 2007 tenders for the conceptual design of the central section were invited. The winner was BP “Metroprojekt”- AMC Chołdzyński consortium. In September of the same year, the conceptual design for the construction of the central section of the second underground line was approved, while as early as on  October 15, a tender for this section contractor was put out in form of competitive dialogue.

The decisions concerning location of the central section were issued in March 2008.

Three months later, a tender committee opened the offers submitted by three consortia participating in the tender for construction. All of them proposed the price of about 6 billion PLN, which exceeded the amount provided for that purpose in the budget. On  July 30, the tender was invalidated.

Another tender was advertised on  October 15, 2008. The winning tender was selected on  April 29, 2009 by choosing the least expensive offer submitted by an Italian-Turkish-Polish consortium. After rejecting all protests, the contract for the design and construction on the central section of the second underground line was signed on  28, October 2009.
